About

Kat Coppock

Kat Coppock (she/they) has been a practicing artist since they could hold a pencil, and in 2011 achieved a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the South Australian School of Arts at University of South Australia.
Primarily a mixed media artist, Kat combines techniques and materials to create unique fusions exploring society, science, spirit, and surrealism.
They work with photography, collage, sketching, crafting, and painting to create and explore internal and external worlds that are emotionally political, vibrantly coloured and frequently dripping in glitter.

Kat currently works with Spectrum Connect Youth Groups, as well as private clients, in providing innovative neurodiversity-informed support sessions using the Creative Process as a tool for recovery, learning, resiliance and adaptation.

Kat identifies as a Queer artist with late-diagnosed ADHD. They has curated over 50 emerging artist exhibitions, managed 2 small-scale arts venues, and been involved in innumerable community arts projects, notably the Creative Flow and Art Battle Spectacular series.
With a focus on small scale community arts events, Kat aims to break down barriers facing everyday engagement with the Arts by creating open and accessible events showcasing a range of creative disciplines.
Art Over Apathy is a creative company built from Kat's own lived experiences with late-diagnosed neurodiversity, mental illness, and chronic pain. Since Kat's early days, engaging with and creating art has been a powerful tool in combating thier struggles, and now they aim to inspire and empower others within their own creative strengths.
